I have contemplated things like this also.
My short and sweet answer is there is no happiness without sadness, there is no feeling good without sickness.
I have often wondered why some things have to go to the extent they do like when you ask yourself how can god let that happen? Well I believe that is Satan's work. We humans have free will and the human body is not perfect.
