Trade is just one of the parts in confronting China, a nation which has been waging economic war against the western democracies for some years, which has put in camps a whole ethnic group, a nation with a leader Xi - for life who has been gearing his country to fight the US.

The US would really be dumb to continue to aid and abet China in its transition.

The question before us is none of that. The question before us is whether Trump is effectively directing policy to address such concerns.
