US has already lost a lot since China entered the WTO.
At this juncture US is more capable of taking the pain than China with its massive debt, aging population, ghost cities, and heavy dependence on exports.
China's efforts to transition to "Made in China 2025" are under serious stress.
Trade is just one of the parts in confronting China, a nation which has been waging economic war against the western democracies for some years, which has put in camps a whole ethnic group, a nation with a leader Xi - for life who has been gearing his country to fight the US.
The US would really be dumb to continue to aid and abet China in its transition.
