I don't perceive those Democrats as nascent fascists and I'm pretty sure neither did FDR. The key thing here is I think we both recognize these people wanted a strong leader to take care of them. Regarding Obama, it's not the firmness of ground, but the difference in the crisis. Obama led us through the Great Recession, FDR the Great Depression.
