You fail to make a critical distinction. Speaking of whining addresses the behavior. It does not label the person who has whined. Commenting on an approach to posting or to the content are again addressing conduct or content, not personality. Pointing out that one has made a stupid comment does not address the overall intelligence of the commenter. This is to be distinguished from blanket statements that all who disagree with a commenter are idiots.
