I would have no problem with banning all semi-auto and automatic weapons for civilian use. You can have revolvers and/or single shot pistols, bolt action and/or single shot rifles, and pump action and/or single shot shotguns. That's it. And I would include those restrictions for civilian law enforcement too.
The only people that could have semi-auto and fully auto weapons would be the military and that would be for military use only.
And I'd put some teeth in those laws. Any civilian caught with an illegal weapon it's an automatic five years minimum in the slammer.
But now for the other side of it.
With regard to those legal firearms I described, they, and ammo for them should be readily available for purchase at any hardware store just like you would buy a hammer and nails.
