If you think I hate Monsanto you are right and thanks to the revolving door between them and government there are some branches I hate as much. When Florence worked at Mound she was exposed to severe radiation at least three times thanks to their sloppy procedures. Twenty years later they remove a mass (17 - 19 cm in size and 2200 grams containing many ovarian cysts. The surgery was two hour, recovery several days. Six slides were sent to AFIP but she had never been in the armed forces. AFIP requested more sample and determined that had the operation not taken place she only had two months to live.
DOE tracked her all over they even phoned here (unlisted number) and when I asked about recompense all I got was NO. Yet there is a group in Providence RI set up to pay people such as her. However Monsanto and DOE have conveniently lost all records of her having worked at Mound and the number of times the exposure took place. It was suggested I go after the info under FOIA but since the info has been destroyed (Much conveniently went down the radioactive shaft in T Building) there is no information to be free with. Nice people are they not?
AFIP - Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. (And why they were involved we can only guess because she was never in the armed forces.)
