Absolutely! Slager is likely going to prison for the remainder of his life so like he gives a flying fuck through a rolling donut that he got fired.
And he's meat, Zeke. Because the prosecution is going to have more legit law enforcement people than they will ever need. People more than willing to try to get their profession out of the doghouse by testifying that Slager was in utter violation of any reasonable PD protocols anywhere in this country.
And the defense, they'll have a half-dozen security guards from Walmart blubbering, "The offender generated the danger, the offender gets the result."
