Every recommendation I've found for women traveling alone is to immediately call 911, preferably while you're still rolling and looking for an appropriate place to pull over. Next...keep a pre-written half sheet of paper stating, "I'm on 911 confirming that you are a police officer.", hold it up in the window. Keep the doors locked, the windows up, and the car in gear with your foot on the brake. A rapist is not going to try to get in a quick rape if he thinks the actual cops have been called and will take off. A car-jacker or armed robber might still try. If he makes a move to break your window floor it...he's not a cop. A cop who is not an insane cop will wait for 911 to confirm.
