I've been waiting to find a HDMI AV amp for cheap so now I guess I'll try it. I'm thinking no wires under the rug though. A year or so ago I found a pair of Advent wireless speaks with the x-mitter unit and everything...also at the GW. I think the speaks and the x-mitter were 7 or 8 bucks. I've run them and for cheap plastic boxes they don't sound too bad...I would think certainly good enough for rear channel effects on a home theater system. So I'll probably use those.
So it's a "swell" amp, you think? I know a lot of the vintage guys really lust after the big old Pioneer receivers, but I'm pretty sure this Pioneer is early 2000's gear so I wasn't sure. When I'm lusting over vintage amplification it's typically Yamaha, Carver and Brit gear...mostly Quad amps and pre-amps.

Don't actually know how good an amp it is, was basically admiring the 'score' price. It's defiantly fun to check stuff out when such opportunities come along....
I don't have wires under the rug, I have them under the floor. Drill holes by baseboard, run wires along basement ceiling. Cut a little flap in the carpet to get access to floor, this can be glued down again at a future point to hide the hole if desired.
Wireless speakers are much less bother I'm sure.
