The store incident could be a felony....or a shoplifting charge. Hard to tell.

The video shows the owner was not afraid to confront Brown so they might say Brown did not use a weapon in the classic sense of the word. On the other hand the definition of assault is fear on the part of the victim that one could be hurt even if there is not actual weapon present and Brown did push the victim. I would imagine a felony charge but had he gone to court over this and it was a first offense they might have lessened the charge.


usually a felony is a crime that is more than a year in jail and a fine over a $1000 from what I remember from my Intro To Criminal Justice class...so if the fine and prison term for strong arming items from a store meets that criteria it would be a felony.
