Why? Wishful thinking perhaps. We do know that the kid was jaywalking and the cop took exception to this, but escalate this into a confrontational situation? I would like to believe that an experienced cop would have given the youngster a bit more latitude.
I do agree with you that we do not know what happened within the patrol car and the other witness is dead.
