Now you've given Mr. Pots another nightmare.
There are two widespread instinctive criitter fears: of spiders and of snakes. I read that if you have one, you're unlikely to have the other. Snakes don't bother me at all. I was sitting on a rock in a forest one time, munching a bit of lunch, when a copperhead came by. He passed withing about three feet of me and just continued on his way; I just sat still and watched calmly.
Mrs Q, now, would have freaked. I once had to rush home to deal with the crisis of a garter snake introduced into the house by a cat who had proudly caught it (but not killed it).
