They were indeed elected and have a right to their views and votes. It's their willingness to let the nation default while pursuing an impossible agenda (i.e., repealing Obamacare without the votes). They took an oath of office to play within the system prescribed by the Constitution and the Constitution (14th Amendment, Section 4) says:
"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned." Obamacare was passed by both Houses, signed by the President and upheld by the SCOTUS and they're threatening to default on the debt due to an irrational temper tantrum. No more, no less. They're a shameless lot.
