If I was Truman I would much rather have the citizens of the enemy nation on my conscious rather than the deaths of maybe 100,000 American troops......especially if I had the weapon to save from a costly amphibious assault on the main islands of Japan in the first place.
I am not a stand your ground advocate by the way. I am sure Assad in Syria believes he is standing his ground. I am sure if he had nuclear weapons he would have used them on his own cities.

We now have innumerable countries with weapons that can cause horrific results. North Korea and Iran along with Syria to name just a few. Now what do you think the rest of the world would do if lets say North Korea sent a nuke to Japan using the Stand your ground excuse?
