That is the problem.....no one understands that governments exist to spend money to perform things that private individuals do not do themselves. I hate to say this but all those assholes preaching austerity and warning how we are going to be like Greece are government workers who will most assuredly take their government retirements and public option health care, just like myself and some others on this board.
I can tell some people here (obviously not Rex) still do not know the difference between macro and micro economics. Some of the posters are those same people who probably do not want to pay local school tax levies because they do not have kids or they have graduated already.
I can tell you one thing ....in this right to work world the boss ain't gonna take care of you ....if you cannot see that right now then you are in for a big shock. Well at least Medicare may be around to when your old and gray so we might have that going for us.
Technically speaking the British government is close to a thousand years old, if you accept it as an evolutionary process that began with Magna Carta in 1215 and see the modern Parliamentary democracy as its offspring. By no means perfect, representative democracy has existed here in some from for 400 years, and can be seen as the concurrent sibling (or offspring ) of British democracy. We ain't going nowhere.
