I talked with a friend in Florida at some length about this last night. He is going ape over it. His views and mine in general are a bit different. I have always leaned further to the left than he. My disenchantment with the GOP began in the late 1980s with Daddy Bush's "New World Order" speech. His disenchantment came after 9/11 and gained steam with the invasion of Iraq.
But, we both agree; For better or worse, the Dems still do as they have done for the last 2-3 decades. Expand government and fail to stop the NeoCons from advancing their agenda.
The NeoConservative movement is completely rotten. If there is any body politic in this country that preaches one thing, but does quite the opposite it is the NeoCons. The lies are so deep with them it is difficult to fathom. Lies built upon lies using fairytales as a foundation.
The GOP itself is fractured and struggling with a split personality, a two headed monster consisting of the Tea Party and the NeoCons. No traditional Republicans left as far as I know. The NeoCons are up to something that reeks of Fascism. The Tea Party
might mean well, but comes across as an angry teenager who just wants to beat the shit out of anyone whom he deems to be anything less than a "True Patriot", whatever that is.
My friend likened them to Luke Abrazzi and the NeoCons to Don Corleone. Luke is the ever loyal, yet not so bright bulldog who loves the Don and is more than happy to whack whomever the Don tells him has disrespected the family ("Doesn't love America").
With the push on from the NeoCons to usurp the 4th Amendment based on a premise from the Patriot Act, and make no mistake that is precisely what is afoot, they have proven that the true constitution tramplers are....them.
And, just as a pre-emptive statement;
No, Obama did not usurp the 4th in the Awlaki case. Awlaki forfeited his citizenship when he allied with a sworn enemy of this country.
