Recently contacted her cousin, well mine also through marriage, and she has traced the family back to Spain and Italy,since Capitain Juan Cavazos was an Italian married to a Spanish lady. We just discovered a portait in oils that was done when she (Florence) was twenty and are waiting for the frame to be made. We also found the certificate she was given for her first solo flight. There were only three women flying there in Japan at the time, Florence, her instructor's wife and a young Japanese girl, so the certificate says "on his first", they did not have a "her" version. She soloed after only eight hours of instruction.
