This isn't the first time nutjobs have either cried the end is on such & such day, or else we'll see panic in the streets, or the P.O.T.U.S. is gonna enact martial law, or a big rock is gonna fall out of the sky and the dust cloud from impact is gonna kill us all, etc. Everyone wakes up to find none of the above happened.. so why would anyone keep buying into that same ole cry wolf shit.

Because people they "trust" keep pushing it at them, either for money or votes. That, and every now and again the wolf actually shows up. (Hitler is a good example.)
My questions is; What is the point in worrying about doomsday, anyways? If the sun explodes, or an asteroid slams into the earth.......what can you do but die or deal with it? And, I'm one that believes many unfortunate human events sometimes arise out of conditions and situations that already exist and have come to a head anyways. This is why we have so many problems that remain unresolved that probably never will be resolved.
Does that make any sense?
