Yeah, rear leg. They've got elbows up front. Could be the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament). A partial tear (if that's what it is) will probably heal up okay in time but she may have a sorta loose knee joint, subject to reinjury.

Rimadyl (generic: Carprofen) is a good pain-killer but it has side effects, particularly in older dogs: liver or kidney failure. Use it sparingly. Often you can achieve satisfactory pain relief at less than the recommended dose.

I wouldn't really worry about this unless she's going to be on Rimadyl for a long time though.
