Who shops on Amazon?

I admit to doing a lot of shopping on the internet with proportionally more on Amazon. My wife's majority of reading is on Kindle. Today I read this article. From now on I'm gonna make the effort to shop around. The Prime Membership is going to be dropped.

Anybody who still wants to do business with Bezoz should take a look at the story in today's NY Times.

It's a workplace designed for weasels.

Bezoz owns the Washington Post too. We're doomed.

Thanks for the info.

F#@k Amazon!

It doesn't sound much different than what what junior engineers experience in A/E firms, new hires at law firms and doctors in residency experience in terms of grueling hours and near slave-like exploitation. As exploitative as it is, it's a great (and sometimes necessary) way to cut your teeth in these industries.

Amazon reads like perennial residency. :(

I've known for several years what a Hell hole Amazon for it's employees.

But I still shop there. :o

Probably will continue to too.

It's just too damned convenient.

I will make no further attempts to rationalize it.

"It's a workplace designed for weasels." Ike Bana

It's a workplace designed to turn the worker into a weasel. A worker accepts a bonus upon being hired, and perhaps a moving bonus, and then finds out through experience that in order to succeed he must become a weasel.

The point is the job place "Amazon Coporate" turns him into weasel.

When a lawyer reaches partner or Dr graduates from residency or professor becomes tenured the pressure is lessened. It doesn't sound like that happens at Amazon. You get terminated for illness, death in family, or vacation. It sounds like a never ending pressure cooker for warehouse workers to middle management to upper management.

And the prices I'm paying as a consumer aren't that much cheaper. I'm gonna make it a point to no longer shop there. YMMV.

That pretty much 'splanes my feelings WRT Amazon. I keep a wish list until it gets to $35 for free shipping and then punch the button. Easy, peasy. The bottom line is that they provide a desired service.
