Maybe suicide, maybe not. She had just landed a decent job after a long time without one, and may have been thrown into depression by the thought that her arrest would blow the job.

But the arresting cop 'violated procedure.' She got mad, and landed in jail on an assault charge, and then is found hanged. Cop is 'sentenced' to desk duty.

Once again--cops just need to follow their procedure and show professional courtesy. All trouble avoided! Simples!

Go look at any trash bag you have around. Do you think it is big enough and strong enough to hang yourself? You have to tie it to something then tie it around your neck.

Only place I've seen trash bags that big is in an industrial setting and they were not inexpensive. Not something a jail would probably invest in....

Now, putting said bag over someones head and holding it there would be a completely different thing......

I used to think it was around 1/3 but I now think it's about 1/2 of all the people who become cops do so precisely so they can do shit like this.

I suspect that, before long, I'll have to revise my assessment upward again.

It's pretty difficult to not have people like this showing up for job interviews when you're recruiting those who won't hesitate to use physical violence as a "legitimate" intervention in cases of human misbehavior. It's pretty difficult not to hire as many as you can find. And if you were to reject that type of personality out of hand...who's there when physical violence is a required last resort?

Reckon that's why the rate of domestic violence toward women is so high among males in law enforcement work and in the military. It's a problem with a species where the barbarism toward each other is pretty much built in. A basic drive for "survival of the fittest" in a species with intelligence and technology. How quaint.
