After reading the text screenshots, I just wanted to point out one comment made in the Star comment section: Brian Radcliffe · Top Commenter Under Missouri law, marriage is a sacred bond between one man, one woman and one quivering intern. I don't come over very often so may not be responding much. Cheers! |

I think the guy is an idiot for resigning.

He replaced the dude who was intimately involved with a 14 year old and resigned.

Why should politicians be expected to be different from anybody else? We're humans...we cheat better than we do just about anything else. We do it interpersonally, we do it in business, we do in the legal process, why are we expected not to do it in governance.
If somebody's doing their job and gets caught with their hand in the sexual cookie jar, what does that have to do with their job performance? We appreciate the spectacular performances of great actors and don't give their hopping in and out of bed with each other a second thought. As it should be...after all, it's none of our business. America...the land of the incessantly provincial and the home of the phony pious. |

"Until his resignation from office on Thursday, the 49-year-old Diehl had been a hard-charging player in his state’s politics. As the leader of a dominant Republican majority, the speaker was counted as Missouri’s second-most-powerful state politico, next to Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon. Not at all surprisingly, the married father of three has always run as a family values candidate. The Missouri Family Policy Council, an arm of the right-wing evangelical Family Research Council, has praised Diehl “for demonstrating moral leadership and true integrity in standing up for the sacred institution of marriage and the family values of the people of Missouri.” The state’s arm of the Southern Baptist Convention offered thanks to Diehl for “fighting to defend biblical marriage.” LATimes http://www.latimes.com/opinion/topof...514-story.html |
