Red Square Parade

Watched part of the Victory Day Parade in Red Square this morning.

The Cossacks stole the show...impressive mfers.

Putin seemed glued to the Chinese leader. :D

BTW the Chinese took part in the military parade.

I went to the Soviet Union for a week in April 1981 and saw preparations for the May Day parade in both Moscow's Red Square and in front of the Hermitage in Leningrad. Kinda cool and creepy at the same time. Lots of jack-booted thugs.;)

I dunno how we could have participated without being made out as rubber stamp approval of Putin and his policies.
Mebbe next time.

I disagree. I don't see our participation in the celebration as being any kind of rubber stamp for Putin any more than our participation in the actual war was a rubber stamp of Stalin. It would have been an acknowledgement of our shared participation and our shared sacrifice during a time of great crisis. It would also be a reminder that cooperation toward shared goals, despite any possible short-term differences, is both possible and essential.

Of course, Obama has scuppered any such hopes for the moment.

Your logic is too much.

One of the blondes on a Fox program was projecting that the West should
penalize China for succoring and shielding Russia. Another dumb Blonde.

Penalize China.. when Cameron and others approach China with their caps in hands. :D

Anyway the USSR broke the back of Hitler machine at Kursk and doomed it
with operation Bagration. This is worth celebrating.

Hitler was really an idiot. He did not have a chance. Russia was too big, too deep and its people too committed.
