Big Brew wakes up and fights back.

Big Brew took notice of the growing impact of micro brewers - "44% of people
between 21yrs and 27yrs have not even tried Budweiser" - and have countered
with buying them out and striving to control wholesale distribution.

It looks like Big Brew having woken up to the threat of the craft brewers is now
moving swiftly and deftly.

Sorry Big Two but your beers are still like making love in a canoe.

The only use for American macro lagers is to swill along with spicy steamed crabs piled upon newspaper on the picnic table. Other than that, they have no use whatsoever.

I've been a craft beer geek since I moved back from Germany in 1986. Life's too short for shitty beer.

Boulevard Single Wide IPA.

Of course, they just sold out...

Thank Heavens for craft beers, when I first came down here I had stopped drinking beer after the first few and stuck with hard liquor.

Don't knock it if you never tried it. ;)

And don't give Canada's "Big Two" a free pass either. Labatt's and Molson are some pretty lame excuses for beer too.

Labatt's 50 was a good ale as was Molson's IPA. Calgary and Oland's each had a really strong ale about twice the strength of most.

The Labatt's and Molson's that are imported down here are brought in because of their similarity to American beer and it is just as well because they don't sell worth chit in the GWN.

FWIW, Molson now belongs to MillerCoors and Labatt's now belongs to Anheuser-Busch InBev.

I spent a lot of time in Canada during the '70s so my opinion of Molson and Labatt's was formed through drinking the "domestic" version. As far as I can recall, I never tried the US varieties since I'd already formed a less than favorable opinion of them.

Moose Head was okay though, at least passable.

I decided that alcohol wasn't for me almost 30 years ago so never had the "pleasure" of tasting "Canadian Bud" or "Canadian Miller". I haven't really had any of the craft beers available now either.... and there's an apparently very good one brewed right here in Petaluma, Lagunitas.

I use them for boiling brats and they work just fine. Otherwise, I've developed an affinity for New Belgium products.
