And the winner is... Malala!

One of the two Nobel Peace Prize winners this year is Malala. Again a very political decision, in my opinion. She is Islamic and I think the committee also wants to give Islam some positive publicity which this religion can make a good use of currently.

Agree, excellently awarded!

(Language note: 'Islamist' has come to denote believers in a violent, belligerent, expansive Islam. The word here would be 'Islamic.')

I believe the current definition of "Islamist" is an individual who advocates for a more fundamental observation of their religion. Anything beyond that is a broad Christian based assault on pretty much anything non-Christian.

We've seen it elsewhere, of course. "Zionist" has come to denote believers in a violent, belligerent, expansive Judaism. And to make it even worse, Zionists are also greedy, money grubbing Jews who smell funny. At least according to a majority of alleged "Christians" I've run into who openly express their opinion about Jews.

"Islamist"..."Zionist"..meh. Opposite sides of the same Christian coin toss.

Anyway...good on Malala.

The -ist ending is for sure something with a negative flavour. Communist, Sosh-ialist, Extremist...

Agreed good for her.

Herzl wanted a 'state for the Jews' meaning some nation that would welcome them. He did not advocate a 'Jewish state' which is a totally different concept. Of course his whole concept was twisted completely by non Jews.

Always happy to help.

An OK choice. Good for her.

Though she completely disagrees with her fellow Peace Prize person, Obama. I realize that can be attributed to youthful optimism.

Christians aren't cutting people's heads off last I heard. The evangelicals are also generally supportive of Israel.

Yep. And y'know...at the end of WWII, European Christians just wanted as many European Jews as possible out of their hair once and for all. So they kindly provided a homeland for the Jews of Europe, surrounded by the only people who hate Jews worse than the nazis. Go figure.

But if you're a Jew and it wasn't bad enough for ya in one of the Gaza settlements, you can always relocate to the south of France. It's where you go to find a place where the far left and the far right really know how to find common ground.

Right after WWII most remaining European Jews figured it was time to get the hell out of town. First choice was the US if they had relatives with the wherewithal. If not, the only other option was the British Mandate of Palestine which already had Jewish settlements in a sea of Arabs.
