Stop And Seize!

I thought this kind of stuff was the province of developing nations were corrupt police shakedown citizens for bribes. Well it looks like it is happening here in America too:

Haven't been hearing so much about the cash and asset seizure thing for a while, so it hasn't been at the top of my mind, but it's legalized corruption. The fact that the police, courts, and other agencies get to share the money makes abuse inevitable and inherent. This whole thing is outrageous and indefensible.

It happens especially against Hispanics who the police believes might be illegal.

The money is just taken away.

Blacks who drive expensive cars - BMW, Mercedes - are targeted.

Tell me about this kind of stupidity. The day I went to the naturalization ceremony I was carrying a briefcase. The guards did not even ask me to open it. They practically patted down my wife simply because she is of Spanish decent. So I got the asshole's badge number and wrote to my Senator.. He got his ass handed to him on a plate.

The RICO statutes allow for this shit....right? First of all, law enforcement has gotten away with these seizures where RICO applications are a stretch, at best. And I don't understand how they get away with grabbing somebody's assets allegedly accumulated by illegal activity when they don't yet have a conviction for that activity. Has the SCOTUS ever ruled in this?

Hell the war on drugs has already denied even citizens the protections of the 4th and 6th amendments, never mind non documented aliens.
