Jindal sues Federal Govt.

Bobby Jindal sues federal government over the Common Core

I fail to understand these Republican governors. Are they looking out for the well being of their citizens or themselves only. Don't these guys take an oath office?

For all we know this is more of the same from GOP in harassing Obama administration and waste of taxpayer money. The comments at the end of the news story is good reading.

The RW scaremongers have found it useful to stoke resentment and paranoia centerd on Common Core. They have actually had a far bit of success at this, so Jindal sees he can makes points with the base by riding this horse.

It's crazy and stupid, but that's not important.

He was for it once but his party apparatchiks put out that it was not on the conservative agenda anymore and the Tea Party Polituburo is now happy he is suing the feds.

It's just a game costing taxpayers untold billions of dollars.

Greg Abbott says he has sued Obama administration 25 times

Here’s a typical workday for Texas’ attorney general: "I go into the office, I sue the federal government and I go home," Greg Abbott was quoted as saying to a tea party group in an April 30, 2013, Associated Press news story.

Speaking to FreedomWorks Texas in Austin on April 27, Abbott said, "I’ve sued the Obama administration now 25 times, over the last four years."

When I'm king...public education will be completely removed from local and state control. One federal, centralized system, just like all the country's who's kids are kicking our kid's assess in math and science have. Where every kid gets the same quality of instruction, the same quality materials, the same quality measures of progress, regardless if they live in Winnetka or Gary.

He wants to make damn sure his state remains #48 on the list of best state school systems. Couple lousy education with shitty health care and he'll have done his part in securing the American dream for residents of his state.

I know it's a popular meme that all public schools suck, but I'm actually quite pleased with the public schools around here. FWIW, Maryland schools rank as the best in the country with a B+ (at least by this recent survey). The Maryland State Board of Education unanimously adopted the Common Core over 4 years ago.

My three kids (all engineering majors in college) remarked at how well prepared they were in college compared to their peers, many of whom went to some of the most prestigious private/prep schools in the country. Around here, private schools are for people who have more money than brains and who wish to instill a sense of elitism in their kids. They often end up with inferior educations, however.

Thanks for telling me about the all public schools suck meme.

The popular meme in my neighborhood - the public schools my kids attend are good. And they are, in no small part due to parental involvement.
