My dad put solar on his place in central Oregon. He spread it out over about 5 years so he could take advantage of a 1500 dollar tax credit each year. In essence, the state of Oregon paid him 7500 dollars to install solar panels. Beat the hell out of paying over 20K to have poles sunk and power ran a mile to his place from the nearest power.

He's completely off the grid then? Battery storage?

"Streamlined permitting improves the deployment of solar, and will provide many benefits in Los Angeles and across the state, including job creation and energy savings,” said Adam Gerza, director of government affairs at Sullivan Solar Power.
Muratsuchi said a recent UCLA study showed that if 5% of Los Angeles County homes had solar panels, it would create 28,000 jobs and reduce carbon gases by the equivalent of removing more than 225,000 cars from the road. "It's a big deal," he said." LATimes

It would be difficult here. Almost twenty different owners would need to get on board in this condo complex. I would vote for it personally

Yep, 2 banks of 2 volt forklift batteries. 12 batteries in each bank into a 24 volt to 120 volt inverter.

Condo boards suck. Can't hang a damn planter it seems like without someone getting their panties in a bunch and complaining to the board. Solar panels would blow their minds. One of the biggest reasons I moved into the woods. Now I can own my big Weber BBQ and no one can tell me otherwise.:D

I'm not really sure how it would go over here. Our board is OK with big BBQ's and they didn't bat an eye when I wanted to install my skylights. Probably take a long time to recoup costs though, with 8-9 months of clouds and rain during the year.

My subdivision's HOA was inactive when we bought 2 decades ago, and remains inactive today. Other than one busy-body lady at war with her neighbor, no one seems interested.
Thank God.
