Good. I hope it spreads.

Will be interesting to see the statistics over the next few years.

I thought they already had pretty tough gun laws.

Wish then all the best.

I've been there and have relatives who live in Chicago. It is a shame but some of the city scared the bejesus out of me when I was there. I'm sorry but from the country like I am, and after years of Hollywood movies and sensationalized news stories seeing what I did and with my family at hand. I must admit was fearful at times.

I'd like to see how many of the murders in Chicago were committed with legal guns.

The cops sure don't protect you there.

Illinois now has right to carry, and that's what will bring murder rates down. Chicago already had some of the most stringent gun control laws in the country. They pass this new law in Chicago so they can point to it when the death toll starts coming down, rather than admit right to carry did the trick.

The basic premise of your logic is that 'right to carry' reduces the murder rate.

Why do you think so? Can you explain why I should think so?

That's why it's so safe and peaceful in Somalia and Pakistan.

Boring! This debate has been hashed out here, and everywhere else, ad nauseum. Studies supporting both opinions are out there. There are even studies saying there's no real difference one way or the other. I don't care if you agree with me. I don't care to persuade you to my side. I respect your opinion, and don't care if you respect mine.

Funny I live in a concealed carry area and it's nothing like Somalia - or Chicago.

Oh poop, I thought this was a discussion board. Alas, you decline to support your basic premise.
