This may have been expressed before...if so, my apologies in advance for the repetition.

Anyway...The really nauseating part of all this is the way conservatives and Republicans (and now even Bergdahl's hometown which has cancelled his "welcome home" event) are acting in light of the possible...possible...circumstances of his "capture". It's clear he may have, for who knows what reasons, walked away from his post, or station, or whatever the army is calling the the apparent fucking rag on a stick shithole in the desert where his unit was located (according to what other unit members have reported). But that hasn't stopped long-time supporters of our professional all-volunteer highly trained and operationally superior forces, like Hannity, Limbaugh, that asshole Buck Sexton, and various and sundry GOP vote whores in Congress from taking a giant shit on Bergdahl without any really solid evidence of what actually happened.

And I was thinkin' if the situation were reversed, and President Willard had worked this politically driven deal (the GOP whores do it as well, eh?), and liberals and Democrat politicians were taking a giant shit on Bergdahl...the cons would be screaming bloody murder...spewing putrid chunks out their festering pieholes all over the airwaves about how Democrats and liberals hate the military and are jumping the gun and victimizing a possibly innocent guy, for political purposes.

The worst is Hannity, of course, with all his multiple appearances at all the Lt. Dan Band concerts for our honored troops:rolleyes:...on split screens with Sexton, both of them excreting streams of bloody diarrhea all over Bergdahl for the past week.

Whether the solder did wrong or not no longer matters. His name has been dragged through the mud and will be forever stained by innuendo and speculation.

Pretty damned sad.

It doesn't matter what he -- may -- have done, right or wrong, as a soldier: we get him back and undertake any disciplinary action necessary on our own terms.

He belongs to us, not the Taliban.

Even the patriotic Americans of Hailey, Idaho have decided he's a traitorous sack of shit and not worthy of a welcome back. A couple of tweets and a few Facebook posts and the city fathers on right on that anit-Obama train. Because that's what it is...it has nothing to do with Bowe Bergdahl...who is convenient, regardless of what the truth may be.

And if it's accurate, I'm gonna say, hey thanks Bowe...it's about time somebody who knows the story had the balls to tell the story. It's no different from the attitude most grunts had toward the Vietnamese 45 years ago. Anybody who's been in the military, and particularly anybody who's been on a combat deployment (that is not me), knows how it works, combat deployment experience or not.

Afghanistan can only be saved by Afghanistanis.
After we leave and if Kabul and Kandahar fall to the Taliban we will have wasted our time there for nothing. Five guys who have spent 15 years in Gitmo and were replaced in the Taliban hierarchy a long time ago will not make one difference.


It is as if the Republicans want everything to fail just because they hate Obama so much.

Before this happened they were saying he had not done enough to get the guy out.

A white Republican did this no one would be saying anything.

It comes as no surprise that the likes of you Ike, who cheers for another terror attack on the United States, would thank an apparent deserter as someone who has "balls".

As for me, I'm a bit more persuaded by the likes of Leon Panetta, who opposed the exchange.

Tom's son could probably tell us .armchair JAG officers' what the horror over there is like but I doubt he wants to talk about it. Perhaps laying down his weapon and walking into the night he hoped they would kill him? Having once honestly looked suicide in the face that I could understand. Whatever, I will wait until we get his side of the story, but even then not having walked that heelhole in his boots I will leave condemnation to others, I have enogh sins of my own to answer for.
