It seems they only change their stripes when one of their own family members come out. Why is it that they have no empathy for others in the same situation?

Hypocrisy, pure and simple.

It's what happens when you live a lie.

Interesting, isn't it.

Guys, twenty years from now, if we old farts are still around, we'll be listening the Republicans crow about how THEY defended gay marriage against "homophobic Democrats" all along.

Then we'll have to watch them get away with their big lie once again.:(
