Canadian court strikes down anti-prostitution laws
"Ottawa — Canada’s highest court struck down the country’s anti-prostitution laws Friday, a victory for sex workers who stepped up their fight for safer working conditions following the serial killings of prostitutes by a pig farmer in British Columbia.
The 9-0 Supreme Court ruling found that the laws violated the guarantee to life, liberty and security of the person. But the ruling won’t take effect immediately because it gave Parliament a one-year reprieve to respond with new legislation. Prostitution isn't illegal in Canada, but many of the activities associated with prostitution are classified as criminal offenses." http://www.detroitnews.com/article/2...xt|FRONTPAGE|p So, I wonder how the left in this country will deal with this ruling. Will they celebrate it as a victory for women's rights, and the right of a woman to do what she wants with her body? Or, will the feminists hold sway and demand more protection for, and abhor the on-going victimization, exploitation and objectification of, Canadian women? |
How is the right going to respond? Heaven forbid that people get to have all the sex they want.

Sweden has done the experiment and has the results, for anyone who actually wants to fight the 'n-going victimization, exploitation and objectification of women' that is inherent in the sex trade. Make paying for sex the illegal thing. Arrest the johns. Eliminates a great amount of the customer base in a hurry. The women must find other means of support, for better or worse.... This idea hasn't found great popularity elsewhere, for some odd reason. Works a trick, though. (sorry....) |

The approach of many is that prostitutrion is wrong, but it is alright to give it to your boss for free so you can keep your job. Enslaving a person is already against the law. Stealing is against the law. so if a woman wants to engage in the world's oldest profession she should be protected from pimps and such like. Of course if men here actually respected women it might be a different story.
