Man Charged with Murder...
...because his dogs mauled a woman to death.
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/l...,3599527.story Interesting application of the law, me thinks. Yes, this is a tragedy. Yes, its likely the dog owner was grossly irresponsible with the dogs, and I'm pretty sure that the dog owner being a pot-head didn't help matters either. But murder? Really? |
Going for a jog and the local grow operation owner has his pit bulls get loose and maul you to death. Talk about a crappy day. Look like they made a laundry list of charges...aiming high.
This article on the bottom of the page was even more worrisome. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/l...tory?track=rss |

You did read that this POS's dogs had attacked others, didn't you? Put the pack down and putting down the owner might get the attention of these scumbags who like to have dangerous animals roaming around their unfenced property. I haven't been hiking up at Littlerock or some years but know the area well. It abuts the Angeles National forest and a state park called Devil's Punchbowl.
It's a haven for white trash meth cookers who also illegally grow weed, apparently. |
We had a similar case here. Fortunately, the Pits hadn't attacked any people yet, but were roaming the neighborhood killing other pets. One was attacked and mauled as it's owner was walking it. Finally, the cops cornered and shot both of the Pits.
The Pit owners tried to sue the police department for the wrongful death of their Pitbulls claiming; "It's just their nature to attack other animals. What am I supposed to do about that?" (The stupid woman actually said that to a reporter on local television.) The judge reminded them that there are also laws regarding "animals running at large" and "failure to control dangerous animals" and fined them for those offenses after throwing their idiotic lawsuit out. "Murder", in this case? I think the law is just aiming high to nail him with the worst they can. I'm thinking they might get a reduction to Negligent Homicide so long as they can prove he knew the animals were vicious and allowed them to roam at large regardless. Dave |

I ask why did it take someone being killed to adress the problem? In my town if your dog gets out and dumps on the neighbors yard you get cited. The next time to the pound and a bigger fine. "O" BTW Pit's get shot if loose also!
But murder? Manslaughter and the drug charges along with a civil suit should keep him away for a awhile. Barney |
I'll have to borrow my brother in law's 30/30 the next time I go for a hike up there.;) Hunt me up some wild Pits, I hear they taste like pork. Obama told me so...
