What kind of people can allow these creatures to live?

Any notion that we're going to deliver democracy to such countries/cultures at the barrel of a gun is delusional. They need to pull themselves out of the Dark Ages before they're ready for democracy. The trouble is that many of them seem to think remaining in the Dark Ages is the right course for their countries.

The irony is that those savages call it "Honour" killing when they do not even have a faint clue what the word means. A father, or mother, who can murder their own child is beneath contempt and should simply be executed as painlessly as possible. Kepping them in jail simply wastes food that could be better served to those in need.

No argument there except from my wife merrylander. She thinks the word painlessly could be left out.

Most European countries went through their own Dark Ages; the difference was that no-one could show us a better way. Now there's knowledge for all to use, and abuse. I doubt that you right to freedom of speech was intended to make it as difficult to get a religious lunatic off the airwaves as it is to get a limpet off a rock.

We're hardly a generation away from hanging a black man from a tree for looking at a white woman, or beating "to their severe injury" anyone even suspected of being gay. Not 20 years ago male and female adults lined the road to spit at children going to school. Where? Not Somalia, not Pakistan, not Saudi Arabia. Protestant men and women screaming and spiting from the side of the road at Catholic children on their way to a nondenominational primary school. In Belfast.

Meanwhile someone with all the tolerance and open mindedness of an English 19th century Evangelical preacher is within his own spitting distance from the White House.

I thought those preachers were behind banning slavery.

No argument from me about us not being that far up the evolutionary ladder. BTW I only said painlessly for the protection of the executioner, having no desire to ruin his psyche.

Trying to recall my World History but it was 68 years ago. I don't however recall parents murdering their own children. Recent days I do recall my Mother having to bury her oldest son when cancer took him, hearts are not designed for that kind of tragedy. Also recall helping my other brother lower the coffin into the grave, said coffin carrying the body of his only girl child who was stillborn, don't ever want to do that again.

All of this says to me that a parent who can murder their own flesh and blood cannot speak of honour nor of love. If it was necessary I would give my own life before seeing the life of our son taken. I guess to people who turn themselves into living bombs life is cheap.

BTW can someone please show me where Jesus said marriage was between a man and a woman, I don't recall the passage. If it is in the Old Testament then that is irrelevant. Having modified our wedding vows I eliminated the bit about "serve and obey" or of wives "submittiing " themselves to their husbands. Sounds more like a marriege between a man and a female slave. Old Jewish proverb - “God did not create woman from man's head, that he should command her, nor from his feet, that she should be his slave, but rather from his side, that she should be near his heart” where mine has ever been.
