He could shill reverse mortgages. That seems to have been the career path of at least one failed GOP presidential candidate. And, I'm sure ripping off old people wouldn't dent his conscience at all.

I don't think he will give up that easy. Has he not been running for President for seven odd years now. I see him continuing on to 2016 in some way or another. Getting a talk show on Fox probably for a starter.

Agreed. There is, however, a possible home for him on Fox Business Channel as one of their stable of "experts". He could actually get the same sort of gig on Fox News. A real double threat, ol' Mittens!

Bob Dole actually wrote an interesting piece on life after losing the presidential election. This column in probably anathema to the current GOP base, because he speaks kindly of his dealings with Democrats. He also provides an interesting justification for his Vi@gra ads.

I think the Gopers will be apoplectic about this piece. Look at the date! Dole just wrote this piece. What made him think to write it now? One guess is all you get.

No, not one mention of Romney but it's clear that he served as a primary motivator for Dole's decision to write this article. And what is he saying here:

"Then, for a long time after my loss to Bill Clinton in 1996, I would lie awake nights wondering what I could have done to change the outcome. Did we rely too much on the Republican base, letting cultural issues define us in a harsh light and driving away independents and suburban voters?"

Bob Dole is far too decent (and moderate) a man to have any appeal within today's GOP, much less his home state. If he were still running for a Senate seat, he would have been teabagged for certain for his modest views and humble demeanor. I've met him on several occasions and knew Liddy Dole fairly well when she was Secretary of Labor. Both are class acts.
