I'll pitch in to buy Grover Norquist a ticket there, along with Ted Nugent.

Ow! Ow! That's too funny!

It does oversimplify the Libertarian perspective, though. True Libertarians, such as Ron Paul, advocate for less federal government. They want to give power back to the states so that government works closer to home. That's a perfectly reasonable position and within it avoids the wealthy federal govt/military industrial symbiosis.

It is the anarcho-capitalists such as Ayn Rand that would create the Somalian paradise.

Quote:

Above all, do not join the wrong ideological groups or movements, in order to “do something.” By “ideological” (in this context), I mean groups or movements proclaiming some vaguely generalized, undefined (and, usually, contradictory) political goals. (E.g., the Conservative Party, which subordinates reason to faith, and substitutes theocracy for capitalism; or the “libertarian” hippies, who subordinate reason to whims, and substitute anarchism for capitalism.) To join such groups means to reverse the philosophical hierarchy and to sell out fundamental principles for the sake of some superficial political action which is bound to fail. It means that you help the defeat of your ideas and the victory of your enemies.

Passing the hat:rolleyes:.... required viewing for the simple minded Libertarian acolytes. Actually they need to come clean and start calling themselves social luddites. It seems to me that the libertarian ethic is stuck somewhere between the 8th and the 12th century. There was nothing bucholic:D about that time.

Talk about Freudian slips, I thought this thread was about prostate glands.

Giving power back to the states is a terrible idea. One of the reasons for popular election of senators was the level of corruption in the states.
