Limiting Choices

The king size Snickers candy bar will no longer be available due largely to Michelle Obama and other meddling progressives. Why do these people think that people can't make their own choices? That candy bar exists because people want it to exist. Is there any area that they'll leave unscarred by their wanton disregard for freedom and choice?

Mars Inc., the manufacturer of Snickers, is phasing out chocolate products that exceed 250 calories per portion as part of an agreement with Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA). Founded in 2010 in conjunction with the Let’s Move! program, First Lady Michelle Obama’s government initiative aimed at shaping up the nation’s youth, PHA has a mandate to “monitor and publicly report on the progress” of partners such as Mars and, more generally, to “make the healthy choice the easy choice.” Call it “yes, we can’t!” progressivism, observes Greg Beato. Under the mantle of “choice,” Mars and the PHA are eliminating consumer options.

Candy bars are not a crucial issue in my opinion. But, letting people make their own choices when it comes to legally marrying another consenting adult would be nice.

The only disadvantage to it that I see is that it spoils the chances of peage. The way things are going is that the Pentagon would be unable to find anyone fit enough to recruit.

I thought these people wanted a "chocolate" America.

My king size bars! :grr:

Well, at least I can still use a segway to get from the couch to the refrigerator. For quarts of premium ice cream.

Just buy a box of 'em BH. This thread epitomizes the scraping of the bottom of the barrel.

Nobody should eat any of that crap anyway. A 250 calorie bar is still 250 calories too big, IMHO.

I suspect the folks at Mars Candy realize that the individuals who used to buy the one big Snickers bar will now buy two smaller Snickers bars instead, and thus pay Mars more for the same amount of product.

I read that they will replace the big bars with a 4 pack, "so people can share". :D

I know nothing about this but I am willing to wager this decision was based solely on what was most profitable for the company.

Spin away however.
