Found these while doing some spring cleaning today. The first is one of my squadrons F4s over the USS Coral Sea during the World Cruise in '83. The second is a photo of the Coral Sea hand signed by the Ships Captain. Third is a group photo of the squadron after recieving the "Bula Bula" Award in '85. Fourth is a Soviet Bear TU-142 taken by one of our pilots during Operation Team Spirit.

Last one is my Graduating Class at NATTC Millington. I am the first squid on the left.

Hmmmm... So, he got to have fun with Moammar too? We did the "Line of Death" dance in the Gulf of Sidra in '83. (Your son will know what that means.:)) My squadron left the Coral Sea in Norfolk in September of '83 and transferred to the Constellation (CV64) in '85.

Some of the hardest, but best years of my life, Painter. Wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again, (If I could.)

The dungarees bring back memories...they are no longer in service, having been replace by a polyester version around 2000 and those being replaced by the digital blue cammies a few years ago. On board ship the daily work uniform are coveralls. I remember my pair of dungarees on my first cruise they got so dirty and paint splattered...but you could wear them if you were at sea.

You must have been around for the salt and pepper uniform Dave....or was that before you. They were gone by 88

I wore the "Crackerjacks". I left the Navy in '86.
I was an Airdale (AME-2), flight deck troubleshooter duty. So, on the ship I wore fatigue pants and a green jersey.

I like the blue cammies. I see them all of the time around here. I spoke to a young woman at the carwash yeasterday, she was a 1st Class Master at Arms, cleaning the van before returning it. She had just returned from transporting some prisoners. The cammies looked sharp on her. Tall, muscular African-American woman wearing a sidearm. I wouldn't want to be on her bad side.
