Happy Manifest Destiny Day Everyone!

Ah, yes. The day the white man threw a party to demonstrate his good will towards the indigenous peoples of North America before he began villifying them a "Godless Demons" and "Savages" and then forced them from their homes and onto infertile, desolate lands. A tradition of pacification, villification and decimation proudly carried forth to this very day.

( I wrote this just to irritate the righties among us.:p)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!!

I think the villification began before the second course, no? :)

Don't be so negative about what the white man has done.

After all, the Native Americans now have rights. All it cost them was their freedom and pretty much everything else they owned.

And, if not for the white man, they wouldn't be able to watch the Redskins on the big screen.

Ha, the Indians (as they are called) were savages, who did nothing but hunt and fish all day while their women tended the Tee-Pee, cooked meals, and raised their young. Thank God Whitey came along and improved on that system.:p

The strange part is that those "savages" - the Iroquois had a better and more functional form of government than we have currently been blessed with. When I came down in 1984 it was a great place to be, amazing what eight years of the GWB administration was able to do. From prosperity to the shitter in one fell swoop, or is that one swell foop.

That sounds like me Rob. I arrived during the middle of the Clinton years, feeling like the poor country cousin, arriving in the big city. I escaped during Bush's time, amazed at what a change there was. It was around 2008 I think, when for the first time in my life, It felt wealthier on the Canadian side of the border. Heartbreaking to see.

Well Erik I am curious as to what next November will bring. Given the mood of the public at present I would not want to be an incumbent up for re-election. For that matter I would not want to be an incumbent facing a primary. I have the feeling that a lot of them will be handed their arse on a plate.

Good Lord, take it easy. It was tongue-in-cheek humor ferfuksake.

Ross Perot warned of the pitfalls of globalization.

But he was "crazy" and "unelectable".

But even he was only half right.

Globalization may have worked, it it were done right. Healthcare reform would work, if it were done right. Banking reform would work, if it were done right.

And the energy crisis wouldn't be nearly the crisis it is now, had it been addressed back in 1973.

Face it, the only direction you can coast is downhill. And it's a long way back up to the top of the mountain.

Perhaps it is time to elect some of those crazy and unelectable folks. How could they be any worse than the USDA select candidates both parties keep offering up?

Got some mighty rotten meat currently hanging in the locker.

Chas
