Capitalism: A Love Affair
 

Have any of you folks seen this 2009 Michael Moore movie. I suffered through it last night on Encore. I sincerely hope this isn't where the OWS receieved there politcal-economy knowledge. Good grief, this is a blueprint for that movement. My God, they listen to the meanderings of a rich angry fat guy that is part of that 1% and then take to the streets?

Never had the stomach for it myself.

Did watch part of "Into the Wild", mainly because I had no first hand knowledge of it to start with.

Only Hollywood would attempt to take some fool like Chris McClueless and turn him into a tragic hero. I loved the clip which showed him heading into the Alaskan bush with a Nylon 66 (scoped on top of that), a backpack of supplies, and a styrofoam cooler.

Hell, I take more shit than that to go out and shoot beer cans on a Saturday afternoon. And I've never had a styrofoam cooler last longer than a couple of hours.

I thought it was going to be a laugh a minute, but it quickly deteriorated into watching him starve to death in an abandoned school bus. I realize we're not talking about Daniel Boone, but you would think that even this cretin would realize that if there was a school bus, there must also be a road leading back to civilization.

Apparently not.

I remember Remington's Nylon 66. Didn't it come in both simulated wood color and black stocks. Gosh, I haven't seen one in ages. I'm with you on being prepared. Here in earthquake country, I'm well prepared for all sorts of possible contingencies.

Yep, they came in kind of a brown nylon stock with blued barrel and a black stock with stainless barrel. The black/stainless was a space-age looking thing. They also made one in green for a while, but I've never seen one up close and personal.

Of course. I've seen all of his movies. He is a hypocrite, a fraud and he frequently goes way, way over the top. Using Cuba as a shining example of single payer healthcare being an excellent example. Anybody who buys that is an idiot.

But, having grown up in the Rust Belt, I understand how he feels about people who trust corporations implicitly. They are the biggest and most naive idiots among us.

I'll cop to having never seen any of his films. Never wanted to - don't care for polemics of any flavor.

I've never owned a 66, did own a 10-C, same thing only it had a ten round clip instead of feeding through the buttstock...like the little Browning take downs.It was a great little .22, but like all Nylons the receiver wasn't fastened to the barrel, so you couldn't scope it.

Kind of like the 556 Speedmaster...if my memory serves me correct.

Now I had a buddy who had a Nylon 66 bolt gun, and the receiver was fastened directly to the barrel. I wouldn't mind having on of those.

Don't really know why since these are my squirrel pieces.

Is that a modded 10/22 on the left? My favorite 22rfs is the Winchester 52 rifle
and the SW #41 pistol. I also shot the hell out of an old Colt Woodsman, a Ruger Mark Series, and even a High Standard for bit. I really enjoyed plinking and shooting paper.
