From a political POV, will the GOP maintain their mantle as the party of national security (which I always thought was bogus)?

It's difficult to spread fear without a bogeyman... :D

That said, beyond psychologically, the question can very well be asked if we are actually any "safer" now than we were a week ago when this -- apparently -- occurred.

Oh yeah, Obama just won reelection in a landslide.

It'll be interesting to hear the Right Wing trying to give credit to Dubya for this or otherwise diminish it. Really.:rolleyes:

The Bin Laden family is quite powerful and very rich, so the money and influence is gone. :)
Other than that they will still teach gullible children the wonderful art of suicide bombing I'm sure.

Not really. There are any number of people willing and capable of replacing OBL. I would suspect some backlash from his death. There's nothing like a martyr to churn the terrorist pot.
