New name for the forum.

Perhaps we should change the name of this forum from "Political Chat" to "Fuck You Jack."

Meebee I'm the only one to notice, but we've driven off a lot of outstanding individuals by being downright insulting when there was no need for it.

My God, we've even driven off Sandy G., one of the most convivial people on the face of the planet.

What's say we go a little easier on the fresh meat before we kill ourselves off?

It's all about the lessening of vitriol, increasing of civility and tolerance of diverse opinion, right? All of course, hallmarks of the ...

I'll take this to mean I am being a bit brutal?

No Charles, you're not the only one to notice. Why would anyone want to jump into a cesspool that used to be a nice place to dip your feet and exchange thoughts and ideas?
Look at the member list and see all the fine folks who never write any more. I have asked contacts on other forums to check this one out and have heard back that things looked a little "nasty" here. It's a damn shame because this started out with such promise.

Dad always told us boys that if we ever made friends ''outside of our circle'' we'd best keep church, politics, or our belief out of conversation or we'd end up losing so many that we'd return to ''our circle''. I had many friends outside my circle when I kept my thoughts to myself .. only talking about things localy where we are all raised and believe the same as thi' neighbor. Seems hard ass dad shot us strait on it. For example, Al Gore was raised very close by, .. but you'll seldom hear a local speak good of him, but there's folks outside of our circle that seem to support his BS.

Hmmm. Compared to most other political forums/blogs I've visited on the Interweb, this one seems decidely civil. I think generally that there is more light than heat here, whereas most others seem to have more heat than light.

OTOH, maybe I'm just a sanctimonious asshole.

P.S. Chas - Fuck you, Jack.:D

I cannot see how you can call Political Chat a cesspool. (and I don't see how that helps the theme of this thread)
What political sites are more respectful of each other except for a straight DEM or straight GOP site?

People come and go all the time on message boards for many reasons and political boards I am sure have the highest incident of this.

In other words I respectfully disagree that Political chat is a cesspool.

You know JJ, I believe you and I could sit around and drink beer all day without coming to blows.

Somehow I doubt that we drove Sandy away, he probably just got tired of shouting up a dead horse'e arse, which is about all that reasoned argument ever accomplishes here.
