Vintage A bomb test film

How does this correlate with E.M.P.? If the film's to be believed, even the radio station was left undamaged.

I didn't watch the whole clip and I don't know whether this comment is relevant, but vacuum tube technology is supposedly far less susceptible to EMP than solid state equipment.

Man, I could sit here and watch those old films all day!

Watch the one called "The House in the Middle".
Did you know household tidiness could save you from nuclear holocaust?

I've did a comprehensive tour of the Nevada Test Site a few years back. Fascinating. A lot of people are unaware, but on average, we blew off a nuke every 3 weeks for 30 years out there (most underground).

Think the radiation might explain some of the politicians we have coming out of that region?

Truth be told, I may like the Nevada Test Site better than Vegas. Vegas is fun the first 2-3 times one visits, but after the 20th time or so, the hedonism wears on you.

The best time I ever had there was taking in the art exhibit at the Venetian.

I can't really bitch much about Vegas. I go there a fair amount for meetings/conferences, etc. It's really not a bad place to go when it's paid for by someone else. There always plenty to eat, drink, watch and be amused by.

OTOH, it's been amazing over the past 25 years watching it transform itself into a family vacation destination. Who on earth would bring their wife and kids there for a family getaway?

My favorite sight is the antique car collection at the Imperial Palace - truly excellent. A Cirque du Soleil show is always fun too. As a Civil Engineer, Hoover dam is pretty cool as well. I steer clear from the buffets nowadays though in favor of smaller, private restaurants off the strip. There's a Thai restaurant off in a small shopping center that has been written up a number of times as the best in the country. It's away from the strip and the tourist crowd and accordingly is very nice.

Yeah I have only ever been to Las Vegas on business and I am one of those that does not like to mix relaxation and business so I always have a better time in Atlantic City. One thing I always liked about working for myself however is staying where I wanted and driving what I wanted.

100% correct...that's why Soviet tube factories were still in full production long after the U.S. facilities shut down. Even the MIG-25 had tube radar & comms.
