Thought for the Day, 11 Sep 2010.

Threaten to beat a man for not following an order, he might not obey.
Wounds can heal. Threaten to imprison a man for not following an order, he may not obey. He has the hope of escape, or release. Threaten to kill that man, he still might not obey, for he might believe his reward is in heaven.
Convince this man he will burn in Hell for all eternity and you have left him with no choice but to obey.

Still on top of your game, Dave.

That's a potent warning on the dangers of theocracy.

Regards,

But if he believes that Hell is right here on earth?

Is this an argument for bullets dipped in pigs blood?

These guys do it for the reward.

Okay, so; "If you convince this man he will recieve eternal reward, he'll do whatever you ask."

What's the difference, Pete? He's still had religion used as a tool to compel him to do evil.

Yeah, well see? We fool 'em! We dip the bullets in pig's blood and then when we kill 'em they can't go to Paradise and collect their 73 virgins! It's REAL funny!

And what gets me is people talk about all of this silly Hokus Pokus as if it has some basis in reality. Well, it does, but only when some deluded idiot starts killing innocent people. Then it become deadly real.

Dave

But not evil in his eyes. How could it be, when the reward is Heaven?

This silly hokus pokus goes way, way back, The Assassins (Hashhassin) were convinced, after smoking enough weed and being surrounded that they had been in paradise. The next day cold sober all they had was the memory, so then their handlers would tell them they would go back to paradise if only . . .

The name was derived fron the hashish they were given to brain wash them.
