Bezos spiking this cartoon was the last straw.

^^^ She was one of the true liberals on WaPo and she did the right thing imo.
The cartoonist Ann Tolnaes also and I had posted this here when this came down.

It is to be expected that Bezos, Musk & Zuck will be kissing Trump's arse in the immediate future and Bezos is losing around $80million a year with WaPo, so these people have very little clout.

Bezos saw the writing on the wall and made self interest decisions. He was smart enough to buy the WP.

A characteristic of the US oligarchs is that they are largely involved in data gathering which enables them to better understand trends. Associated also is the activity of info dissemination. This gives them the power to bend and curtail info and such power is useful in the political realm.

It's a shame. They should have just simply saved the trees, ink, bus fares, and closed the place. The "journalists" who opined there would have had a jump on the excess federal employees in seeking new employment. Instead, now as those "news professionals" are slowly purged, they'll have to stand in line behind the Assistant Director of Wallpaper Patterns at the Department of the Interior for the few remaining openings at Starbucks.
