It Can´t Happen Here, 1935
 

I may have mentioned that I am reading this book elsewhere on this forum.

There are SO many profound quotes in this book, but I would like to share this one:

"There were the idealists of Corpoism (insert Trump/MAGA here) , and there were plenty of them, along with the bullies and swindlers; they were the men and women who, in 1935 and 1936, had turned to Windrip (insert Trump/MAGA here) and Co, not as perfect, but as the most probable saviors of the country from, on one hand, domination by Moscow and, on the other hand, the slack indolence, the lack of decent pride of half the American youth, whose world (these idealists asserted) was composed of shiftless for work and refusal to learn anything thoroughly, of blatting dance music on the radio, maniac automobiles, slobbering sexuality, the humor and art of comic strips--- of a slave psychology, which was making America a land for sterner men to loot"

I don´t think any studio would dare to film this novel in today´s America. The MAGA idiots would think it is anti Trump, even if you told them it was a novel written in 1935.

edit: it is a very depressing read, but I think it is a book that everyone in the world should read.

The fascist mindset is not new. You can find it in the writings of the Romans.

Another sappy attempt to graph everything unto Trump.

Presidents go and come but what is cleary emerging is:
Monopoly, Gerontocracy and Oligarchy.

This has been taking shape regardless of who was/is president.

Wrong D, tRump is merely the tool. He couldn't begin formulate this on his own. He doesn't have the brain power. The R's, salavating at his reign, are another story. He's here merely to enrich himself, wallow in the attention and to stay out of prison.

Donny is a smoke screen, a side show.

The real threat to civil well being is the PATRIOT ACT. This is hardly talked about or ventilated. The act broadens extensively what constitutes terrorism and gives the government vast invasive powers. The people's representatives gave up a huge chunk of civil liberties.

The oligarchs are essentially involved in data gathering - Goggle, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Microsoft. They are reinforcing the PATRIOT ACT while at same becoming more powerful.
Over time they are bending the politicians so that the politician sees where his bread can be buttered. In fact data gathers often have intimidating knowledge.

What now obtains is a melding of Oligarchy with government. With the passing of time this will appear seamless.

Two things can be true. Trump is a wannabe dictator and the Patriot Act went too far.

We all are to close right now to see the big picture I'm afraid my friends.

At the beginning middle even end .... sometimes it will take years to see what happened....

Long after I'm gone, others too ... the results of this time will all to become apparent.


Knowing history and human nature as i do. Knowing it will be a period of unrest upheaval with a name of shame.......... You pick will it be GOP, Trump MAGA age who knows now. To soon to tell.
