"People who refuse to comply with a federal mandate that requires them to wear masks in airports, and on trains, buses and in other public transportation settings will face stiffer penalties, Biden administration officials announced Thursday.

Beginning Friday, the fine for refusing to wear a mask will increase to a range of $500 to $1,000 for first offenders. Penalties for a second offense will range from $1,000 to $3,000.

“TSA will double the fines on travelers that refuse to mask,” President Biden said Thursday. “If you break the rules, be prepared to pay. And by the way, show some respect!”

The stiffer penalties are part of aggressive new actions the administration is taking to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The highly contagious delta variant has fueled a sharp uptick in infections this summer and is causing more than 1,500 daily deaths, chiefly among those who have not been vaccinated. Don Beyer (D-Va.) introduced a bill on Thursday to require all domestic travelers to show proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test at airports or for Amtrak trips, seeking to revive largely stagnant discussions among federal officials about more restrictive pandemic travel requirements.

The bill, the Safe Travel Act, would also require all Amtrak, airport and air carrier employees or contractors to be vaccinated or submit to weekly testing. Unvaccinated travelers would have to present a negative test within 72 hours before travel.

Beyer, who chairs the House Science, Space, and Technology subcommittee on space and aeronautics, said in a statement that the proposal would “help make people comfortable traveling again by putting basic requirements in place that prevent the spread of Covid.”" WP

Now those in charge need to go after the misinformation spreaders. Call out the liars and deniers by name. Call them out for doing it for political and monetary profit. Call them the liars and hypocrites that they are. Call them out for the misery and suffering they've caused. Go further and make the penalties severe for anyone distributing fake vaccination cards. No fines, jail them.

Big driver for more then a few workers not getting the vaccine. The wanting to stay at home working remote. Thinking using excuses such as religious medical psychiatric related issues will force this to happen.

May well be finding a new gig, companies are seeing the financial losses associated with this behavior.
