The bill to make Juneteenth a national holiday passes.

Of course there were certain Repubs in the House who didn't agree with it.
Who are the 14 House Republicans who voted against a Juneteenth holiday? And why?
Of course they have various reasons for voting against the bill such as Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky who thinks that

Naming this day 'national independence day' will create confusion and push Americans to pick one of those two days as their independence day based on their racial identity
Can't have certain people opting out of the good ol' 4th of July celebrations now can we? Or is it that certain groups don't want a mention of that little enslavement of an entire race of people thing? Celebrating the end of it is just uh, un-American.

In a strange sort of way, the taint of racism on the GOP from Trump's overt racism forced Congressional Republicans to grab on to this fig leaf.

The GQP cult will have a tough time with CRT and this holiday.
Race and this holiday kinda go hand and hand...

Critical race theory
Critical race theory is an academic movement of civil-rights scholars and activists who seek to critically examine the law as it intersects with issues of race and to challenge mainstream liberal approaches to racial justice. Critical race theory examines social, cultural and legal issues as they relate to race and racism.

Critical race history is accurate.
Of course planter class white conservatives object to any highlighting of it.
