The United States Postal Service is a SERVICE

The USPS is a much needed service enshrined in the constitution, not a for-profit business.
No one bitches if the fire department, police department, or US military isn't making a profit.

Fundamental and important point. The right wing, of course, does not believe the government should provide service, except to the deserving. To them, the rich are the deserving.

More than that, it is essential infrastructure.

The GOP in it's core are not believers in government rather privately ran for profit institutions. The use of public funding to line the pockets of supporters without oversight.
With the added aspects of unions only adding to the dislike.
